Michael Davis

Michael is a self-taught, London-based artist otherwise working fulltime in 3D TV & film production.

He first picked up a pencil and began drawing whilst an annoying youth, copying elaborate pen and ink illustrations from graphic novels. Today, taking inspiration from elements of pop culture, he stills draws influences from these origins of bold, bright and striking styles used by artists such as Frank Miller & Yoji Shinkawa.

He combines an inclination toward technical detail with an undercurrent of more fluid, traditional painting techniques.  Using a mixture of thick, viscous acrylic paint overlaid with fine, vibrant inks, he produces richly textured pieces that shimmer with a light metallic finish.  Sometimes spiced with his slightly odd dark humour, but always focused on creating punchy, original and dynamic artwork.
